The plaintiff alleged that the truck driver—who fled the scene after striking the animal in the roadway—was negligent in failing to stop, investigate, and put out warning devices to alert other motorists to the dangerous obstruction he had created. The jury awarded just over $2.7 million. Aurdahl v. Huntingford.
