Hospital workers who were often expected to remain on call during meal breaks despite payroll deductions for those breaks sued several hospitals and their operators. The plaintiffs alleged that unpaid wages for the breaks—as well as unpaid overtime—affected the amount of pension benefits they received. The parties reached an $8.5 million settlement. Woolfson v.
